What is SIP?
SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) is a method to invest in mutual funds by putting in a fixed amount every month. It leverages rupee cost averaging and power of compounding to build wealth over time.
What is a good SIP return rate to expect in India?
Equity mutual funds in India have historically returned 12–15% annually over long
periods (10+ years). Debt funds typically return 6–8%. For a conservative estimate, use 10–12%
for equity SIPs.
Can I stop a SIP anytime?
Yes, you can pause or stop a SIP anytime without penalty. However, the
already-invested amount remains in the mutual fund and can be withdrawn subject to exit load and
tax.
